But shunning an eccentric design for something a little more understated, Dakota Johnson stunned in a black velvet midi dress as she attended the Panthere de Cartier watch launch in LA on Friday night. The actress, 27, looked simply sensational in the minimalist design that perfectly showcased her sartorial expertise.
Dakota’s dress featured a low-cut neckline that teased a look at her assets and cinched in at the waist to accentuate her slender frame.
The design brushed over her enviable figure and its hemline grazed the starlet’s mid-calf, while its skirt was pleated on one side. Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota added a slinky pair of complementing heels to her ensemble and toted her essentials for the evening in a stylish monochrome clutch. She chose to leave her decolletage bare and accessorized with a watch on one wrist and a statement ring that sat on the opposite hand.
The brunette beauty wore her tresses – including her trademark fringe – into a fuss-free style that sat just below her shoulders. Showcasing her natural beauty, Dakota opted for a minimalist look when it came to her make-up and finished off her ensemble with a subtle smokey-eye and a nude-hued lipstick across her lips. Other attendees included the likes of Sienna Miller, Paris Hilton, Kirsten Dunst and Miranda Kerr.
Dakota jetted into the West Coast to attend Cartier’s latest bash – held at Milk Studios – after spending time in New York to attend the Met Gala. She had joined a bevy of A-listers at the prestigious style event, seen as a calendar highlight, and wowed on the red carpet in a Gucci gown very different from her latest style choice.
The daringly cut dress showcased plenty of side-boob and made a statement thanks to its larger than life ruffled train and shoulders. As well as making an impact on the fashion front, Dakota has been exciting fans when it comes to the big screen. A sneak peek of the latest Fifty Shades movie, Fifty Shades Freed, was released and teased a look at the forthcoming film which will continue the story of Christian and Anastasia’s lives after they got married.
Dakota stars alongside Jamie Dornan once again, who plays the leading role of Christian Grey, and he recently spoke about the relationship he has with the actress. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Jamie said: ‘Dakota and I are very close. We’ve got a great sort of love and respect for each other. We’re great friends.’
