Nicole Richie just redefined how you can wear a satin slip dress. Most girls would wear it as underwear, use it with boots, or with high heels. But for Nicole, it’s best teamed with simple but slightly masculine flat slides.

This is exactly the outfit she wore while visiting one of her pop-up shops in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Honestly, it was an unusual combination because the style setter looked like she was in her nightgown and bedroom slippers. Surprisingly, however, she still looked chic in the pairing.

What do you think of the mix Nicole put together here, hit or miss?

I’m not into slip dresses, but for some reason, she managed to change my mind with this outfit. I like how she dressed down the long slip without overdoing it (such as when you team it with rugged boots).

The sandals are simple, bare, straightforward, and slightly masculine — no fancy studs, multiple straps, or eye-popping embellishments — but they were the perfect ending to her satin number. In fact, what I love most about this whole combination is the absence of details.

No info has been released on Nicole’s outfit yet, but if you wish to steal her style, you can easily do so by grabbing a maxi slip dress and a pair of simple slides. Here’s an option worth considering from Ancient Greek sandals:

Wear the sandals with a loose-fitting slip dress like this piece from Anthony Thomas Melillo. Cap off with a mini, pendant necklaces, and stacks of arm party for added drama:
