Lorde sure turned a lot of heads at the recently held Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards this week. The “Royals” singer transformed into a sexy siren for the occasion by slipping into a low-cut spaghetti-strap dress painted in a sinful shade of scarlet red. She complemented the number with a jeweled choker necklace, nude makeup, and a pair of black pointy ankle-strap pumps. The mix was simple and clean, but it also screamed look-at-me.
Altogether, it was a little strange to see the singer in something that wasn’t oversized, boxy, or black. But at the same time, it was also quite refreshing to find her in an ensemble that was ladylike and flattering to her figure.

Wow. She looks amazing in that red number. Would you agree?
I think she should dress this way more often. It’s sexy but elegant, and it really suits her. In other words, her stylist should get a raise.
The change in sartorial preference could also have something to do with a famous bestie of hers — Taylor Swift. I’m guessing hanging out with Ms. Swift influenced Lorde’s fashion sense in some way. Yes?
I couldn’t find any details on Lorde’s red dress, but based on the pictures above, I think her pumps are from Manolo Blahnik. The silhouette reminds me of the “BB” ankle strap pumps below:
Manolo Blahnik Ankle Strap BB Pumps in Black Suede, $645
The BB ankle strap pumps feature pointed toes, slender ankle straps, and very slim 4.5-inch-tall heels. Her pair is obviously in black suede, which you can easily find online for $645. I’m not sure if the pumps come in another color, but feel free to visit the nearest Manolo Blahnik stockist in your city if you want to try ’em out for size.
