American Idol alum and Scorpion actress Katharine McPhee pulled out all the stops necessary to look her best for an appearance early this week. She arrived at the AOL Build Speaker studio in New York City in a silvery ensemble of short ribbed-knit skater skirt teamed with a matching ribbed-knit cropp top and a metallic jacket. Capping off the attire were a half updo and some silver ankle-strap stilettos. The whole getup was sexy, feminine, youthful, but also sophisticated thanks to the monochromatic color palette.

Last week, Katharine was seen in a similar ensemble while out on a dinner date with her co-star and rumored boyfriend, Elyes Gabel. Her two-piece set was more flirtatious, though. It was pink and it came with a strapless crop top. She wore her blond tresses in loose waves, then capped off the mix with a Louis Vuitton purse and some gold ankle-cuff d’orsay pumps.

What are your thoughts on Katharine’s penchant for crop tops and skater skirts? Do they suit her age or do you think she should wear, er, more mature-looking frocks like shifts and whatnot?
That said, I think her taste in footwear is on point. I couldn’t find her silver pumps online, but judging from the dark red outer soles, I have a strong feeling they’re from Louboutin. Then again, I could be wrong. If you like the silhouette, maybe these Kendall + Kylie pumps might interest you:
