Culottes are officially back in style. I know, wearing them seems like an old-fashioned thing. But if you look to supermodels for tips on how to rock those wide-leg cropped bottoms, you just might be able to put them out for a spin with flair.

Take for instance, the look Karolina Kurkova wore for a Rimowa party held in Miami on Wednesday. The leggy blond arrived at the event looking chic as always in a pair of high waist bright orange culottes teamed with a one-shoulder pleated crop top. She finished the pairing with a gold box clutch and a really gorgeous pair of red-orange sandals. It was the perfect combination — an outfit worthy of copying:

How do you like the mix she put together?

I think it’s  spot on. It can even work on short ladies. Culottes — especially the ones that wide and cropped at the bottom — can make you look short so the trick is to choose a cut that sits high on the natural waist. Yes, just right above that belly button of yours. The best tops to go with culottes are either cropped or fitted and tucked under. Now don’t forget that if you’re petite, you also need to wear sexy strappy or pointy high heels with the pair.

Speaking of heels, Karolina’s sandals are reportedly by Delpozo. I can’t really confirm that because they’re not available online. However, they do remind me of the Aquazzura “Sexy Thing” sandals, only, with more details:

Do you see the resemblance?

What’s great about the Sexy Thing is that they’re on sale right now, down to $395 from $565. Pair the sandals with wide-leg culottes like the ones from Tibi below, then mix with a crop top and a clutch. Have a look at the pairing I did, then tell me if you’d wear the outfit:
