It seems Jessica Alba is in hot water at the moment. The actress’ Honest company is receiving complaints that their mineral-based all-natural sunscreen doesn’t work. Despite this bit of bad news, however, Jessica appeared unruffled as she stepped out in Santa Monica last Wednesday.

For the outing, Jess rocked a funky get-up of knee-length black dress teamed with a long black vest and some hard to ignore accessories — namely, a printed iPad case, a blue mini bag, red cat-eye sunnies, and some super chunky platform wedges.

It was a very interesting outfit, to say the least. And while I personally wouldn’t be caught dead wearing such an ensemble, Jessica made it work. No, scrap that. She looked really cool in the whole mix.

How do you like Jessica’s latest street style? Do you approve? And what do you think of her super platforms? They’re quite chunky, would you wear ’em?

For reference, Jessica’s iPad case and blue purse are from Chanel. I had trouble finding any details on her outfit, though

Just in case you’re into thick-sole shoes, you can get the same look with these platform wedges from Topshop and Ferragamo (whichever will fit your budget). Team with a knee-length dress and long sleeveless vest to steal Jessica’s style:
