If the name Padma Lakshmi doesn’t ring a bell to you, well, where on earth have you been?
Padma wears a lot of hats. She’s a cook book author, a model, an actress, and a TV presenter (Top Chef, anyone?). She’s a striking beauty, who, at the age of 43, can rival the likes of Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford in their field. Her impeccable style has also made her one of the few fascinating people to watch.
Recently, Padma was spotted looking lovely in an all-white ensemble while out and about in New York City. The stunner wore a heavily pleated frock and capped off the piece with a black floppy hat, a fringed purse, and an equally frilly pair of metallic sandals. The outfit was a heady concoction of textures and I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by the mix.

She looks amazing! I’m usually not fond of fringes, ruffles, and tassels, but looking at Padma here just makes me want to try them out for style. Would you?
If you’d like to channel your inner Padma and rock some fringes for summer, here’s a combination that may be worth considering. The pieces I chose to recreate the look are relatively affordable so no need to feel guilty shopping for them:
BCBGeneration Strappy Pleated Dress / Ray-Ban Wayfarer 55mm Sunglasses / Miz Mooz Gulf Sandals / Gorjana Mika Necklace / Topshop Feather Band Floppy Hat / Deux Lux Joplin Fringe Foldover Crossbody
As for Padma’s cute metallic tasseled toe-ring sandals, I actually tried to locate those online, but couldn’t find any information. If you fancy them, here’s a similar pair in nude suede from Stuart Weitzman. These come with tassels and toe ring details, but they’re not as glam:
