Katie Holmes Wears Her Flats Sandals for Both Casual and Cocktail

Little black dresses, classic pumps, and nude heels, those are some of the versatile pieces that you can wear from day to night or from work to weekend. Strappy flat sandals, on the other hand, are a different case. They can be versatile, but their usefulness will depend on the design, silhouette, and details.

Interestingly, Katie Holmes recently made a case for flat strappy sandals as cocktail-worthy footwear. She wore her flat strappies with denim overalls while running errands in New York City early this month, and then didn’t bother to change her shoes when she attended the 2014 Global Citizen Festival Launch Party held on the same day. Instead of overalls, however, Katie wore the beaded sandals with a black strapless jumpsuit.

Flat sandals are generally informal, but if the shoes are crafted or detailed with special materials like Katie’s sandals, then I guess you could say they’re dressy enough to be worn to a cocktail event. Would you agree?

Katie’s flat strappies are from Alaia. I think they’re from an off-season collection because I couldn’t find them anywhere. However, I did come across these thong versions, which are also from Alaia.
