While some may call this particular outfit from Cate Blanchett boring, I say it’s the epitome of understated elegance. The actress was seen arriving at the airport in Sydney on Sunday (August 24) while decked in a rather boxy ensemble consisting of a long structured beige coat worn over matching all-black trouser separates.

The silhouette was somewhat shapeless and perhaps even masculine, but I love how polished and classy she looked in the attire. I also like how she infused a little bit of fancy into the outfit by teaming it with embellished pointy flats. The shoes made her look every bit a lady despite the androgynous theme of her style.

How do you like Cate’s plane-ride style?

As you can see, you don’t have to look like you’re in your pajamas when you’re dressing for a flight. Cate’s attire is the perfect combination of comfortable and classy, and we all should take a cue. And take note, you don’t need to look boring or ordinary in such a pairing either. Jazz up the outfit with a little bit of sparkle or a dash of color to liven it up. In Cate’s case, she chose a pair of pointy studded flats.

I’ve yet to get the deetz on Cate’s fancy footwear, but if you wish to steal her airport style, you can easily do so using these alternatives from Jimmy Choo, Alice + Olivia, and BP, whichever will suit your budget:
